Thoughts & Tips From Couples & Vendors Who Made It Through

Kylie & Trace were one of the many beautiful couples impacted by the Coronavirus and all of the chaos it brought along with it. While their day may not have been exactly how they envisioned it the first ( or second or fifth) time around planning, it was absolutely beautiful and their families said that looking back, it was perfect. Kylie & Trace were actually planning their wedding from out of state when the pandemic hit and lockdowns began. With high risk family members and many of their guests traveling in for the wedding, I thought that they had a unique perspective and could offer some insight for those of you who might be facing similar challenges with wedding planning and hopefully give you guys some hope!!

They started their day getting ready at the W Hotel in Dallas and then hopped on over to Kylie's parents home for an intimate backyard wedding with their closest friends and family! The couples first look and father/daughter look were both done on the rooftop of the hotel with the Dallas skyline beautifully in the background. With pool side onlookers cheering for the bride and groom and taking shots in their honor it truly was an incredibly unique, fun and memorable experience filled with laughter and joy from start to finish. After their bridal party and couples photos in Downtown Dallas, we drove on over to gather with their loved ones for the backyard ceremony and reception at The Ernlenbush home.

Upon arriving at the Erlenbush Residence, Kylie's mom had pulled me aside and asked me to snag a couple pictures of Kylie coming down the stairs to meet her Dad before walking down the aisle. She mentioned how Kylie had walked down those same stairs for her first date and for prom but that she never imagined that she would walk down the stairs as a bride too. She told Kylie they would never be able to sell this house after that moment. These are the kinds of moments that repeated as a theme to Kylie and Trace's day.

I asked Kylie and Trace for their advise for couples trying to plan their own wedding during this climate. They said "just to focus on what is most important to them and be really open to changes! Is it having everyone possible there in person? For us it was really just getting to be married, getting to have our immediate family there, and finding a way to include those out of state. As things change you really just have to focus on those key things – everything else will figure itself out."

When asked what they would change if anything they told me "we would double check the suit orders with everyone before the morning of or make expectations clearer & test out our zoom & streaming options – but all of those little things are now part of our story & add some funny moments! I don’t know that we really would change too much other than just the little things that added some stress to us or our family zooming in."

Kylie and Trace hired an INCREDIBLE wedding planner, Danielle Hasting with One Fine Day, who really took their wedding vision and brought it to life beautifully. As a vendor, I can't stress enough how important it is to have a fantastic planner on your side to help you along your wedding planning process and day of coordination especially right now as things seems to change every week. Kylie said "having Danielle and her team there to help us was such a huge help, especially as we bounced between COVID regulations, searching for safe & affordable options for vendors & venues, and just generally having someone “in the know” – especially since we were planning from out of state! THEN day of was another huge help! We didn’t have to worry about much at all – she had everything set up and ready to go and we didn’t have to do anything or have our families do anything! When our planner suggested a photographer, we didn’t know anything about– we looked over a few of their client galleries & read about them on their website and it was one of the best suggestions! That trust that was established with our planner is what led to AMAZING photographers & caterers that really made the whole day that much more wonderful. Get people you trust to help you plan and the people they trust will likely also be great!"

Their day was filled love and laughter and we know for certain that it will also be filled with HAPPILY EVER AFTER. Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Tschida!!! Will & I are so unbelievably honored to have been a part of capturing your story and can't wait to see what the journey of marriage has in store for you!
